Q. What is Complexion Protection? A. Complexion Protection features in Bondi Sands Sunny Face products. It helps to maintain calm, clear skin and won't compromise the skin barrier or cause breakouts. The dermatologically tested formulas are oil free & non comedogenic with a lightweight and breathable texture, ensuring your pores aren’t clogged. Q. When should I wear Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum? A. Every day! We would suggest applying your Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum as the final step in your skincare routine, or the first step in your makeup routine. It's the perfect sunscreen for under makeup, melting beautifully into your skin with an invisible, flawless finish. Q. How soon before sun exposure should I apply Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum? A. Apply Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum liberally and evenly 20 minutes before sun exposure, and re-apply every 2 hours or more often when sweating, swimming or towel drying. In addition to reapplying, wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face, and try to stay in the shade where possible Q. Is Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum suitable for acne-prone skin? A. All Face products in our Sunny range have been formulated with our unique Complexion Protection™ to help you maintain calm, clear skin by not compromising your skin barrier or causing irritation. The range is oil free and non comedogenic so you don’t have to worry about clogging your pores. Sunny is dermatologically tested, but always consult with a doctor or dermatologist if you're not sure if suitable. Q. Can I wear Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum with makeup? A. Yes! We would suggest applying your Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum as the first step in your makeup routine. It layers seamlessly under makeup with its invisible, flawless finish and melts beautifully into your skin, allowing for the perfect makeup base. Q. Is Sunny suitable for sensitive skin? A. Yes! Sunny is dermatologically tested and has been formulated with your skin in mind to be gentle and safe to use on sensitive skin. All products in Sunny’s face range like Sunny Drops contain our innovative Complexion ProtectionTM which helps to maintain calm, clear skin by not compromising the skin barrier or causing irritation. It's also infused with Vitamin E and Australian Hibiscus to leave your skin feeling deeply moisturised. However, if you’re ever unsure if you can use a product, it’s best to consult with your doctor or dermatologist. Q. Is Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum water resistant? A. Our Sunny Drops SPF 50+ Face Serum has not been tested for water resistance. If you're after water resistant sunscreen that will keep you protected from top to toe between ocean dips, check out Sunny Milk SPF 50+ Body Serum. We recommend re-applying all suncare products at least every two hours, or more often after swimming, sweating, exercising or towel drying. Q. Should I wear sunscreen every day? A. Yes! Daily sunscreen application is recommended year round, as UVA and UVB radiation can penetrate cloud cover and cause cumulative skin damage even in cooler months. Applying sunscreen to the face should be a consistent part of a morning skincare routine. Broad-spectrum facial sunscreens protect against both UVA rays, which contribute to long-term skin damage, and UVB rays, which cause sunburn. Formulations that absorb quickly and leave an invisible finish allow for effective protection while being compatible with additional skincare or cosmetic products. Q. What does SPF 50+ mean? A. SPF or ‘Sun Protection Factor’ is a rating that refers to a theoretical amount of time you can stay in the sun and be protected without getting burned, compared to unprotected skin. For example, SPF 50 theoretically allows you to stay in the sun with less risk of sunburn for fifty times longer than you would without sunscreen. But real life is not like a lab, and you still need to reapply your sunscreen every two hours, avoid direct sunlight as much as possible and to make sure that you're protected. Direct sun exposure can change the texture and elasticity in your skin, which can contribute to premature skin aging like wrinkles. Q. What is broad spectrum sunscreen? A. Broad spectrum SPF refers to sunscreen that will protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are those that reach the middle layer of the skin (the dermis) and can cause skin to age, while UVB rays are linked to the burning of the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis). Q. What are UVA and UVB rays? A. You've likely heard the terms ‘UVA’ and ‘UVB’ bouncing around the suncare space. Ultraviolet A (UVA) is light that is around all day, year-round. Even when it’s cloudy, UVA can penetrate the middle layer of the skin (the dermis) which plays a major part in skin ageing and wrinkles. It can even penetrate through glass windows! Ultraviolet B (UVB) is light that is more prevalent in sunny climates and conditions, and UVB has been associated with burning of the outer layer of skin (the epidermis) that can cause skin to turn red. UVB has been strongly linked to some cancers. While exposure to UV rays can help to achieve your daily dose of Vitamin D, it’s very important to wear sunscreen every day to protect yourself from sun damage. Q. How are Bondi Sands SPF products tested & regulated? A. All of our products undergo rigorous testing processes to ensure they meet industry standards and regulations. We work closely with our manufacturer and testing partners to ensure all product claims are substantiated with robust testing and evidence, including validated SPF, broad spectrum, and water-resistant testing. Due to the sunny Australian environment, sunscreen is classified as a therapeutic product and is heavily regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which has much higher standards and regulations than anywhere else in the world. The TGA is responsible for ensuring the quality of all therapeutic products and all products must undergo regular product quality reviews including validated SPF, broad spectrum and water-resistant testing to support all product claims.
